Dr. Imam Uddin
Prof. Dr. Imam Uddin is Professor of Islamic Finance, Associate Dean – Industry Relations at the College of Business Management, Institute of Business Management (IoBM), Karachi, and Founding Director of the IoBM Centre for Islamic Business & Finance (CIBF). He is an Islamic finance scholar, researcher, trainer, Shariah advisor, consultant, and institution-builder with more than two decades of experience in academia, Islamic banking, policy engagement, professional training, and industry collaboration.
He holds a PhD in Islamic Business and Finance, a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Islamic Finance from Florida International University, USA, LL.B., Postgraduate Diploma in Islamic Banking and Finance, and Specialization in Islamic Jurisprudence. He has also completed the Advanced Certificate in AAOIFI Shariah Standards (ACSS) and the program on Structuring Islamic Investment Products from the Cambridge Institute of Islamic Finance, UK. He is an SECP-registered Shariah Advisor and an HEC-approved PhD supervisor.
Dr. Uddin has served in the Islamic Banking Group of National Bank of Pakistan, where he contributed to Shariah compliance, product development, and Islamic banking operations. He also provides consultancy, advisory, training, and capacity-building services in the areas of Islamic banking and finance, Shariah governance, Islamic financial products, regulatory compliance, and institutional transformation.
At IoBM, he has played a leading role in advancing Islamic finance education, research, industry engagement, and professional development through CIBF. He is also the Chief Organizer of the International Conference on Islamic Banking & Finance (ICIBF), IoBM’s flagship international conference, which brings together scholars, regulators, Shariah experts, practitioners, policymakers, and industry leaders from Pakistan and abroad.
Dr. Uddin has contributed extensively to Islamic banking, Shariah governance, Islamic fintech, financial inclusion, sustainability, and the transformation of conventional finance. His academic and professional work includes research publications, book chapters, edited volumes, policy-oriented initiatives, and professional training programs. His scholarly contributions have appeared with leading international publishers, including Routledge, Emerald, and IGI Global. He regularly engages with universities, regulators, financial institutions, professional bodies, and international Islamic finance platforms to promote knowledge, innovation, and ethical excellence in Islamic finance.
