
Dr. Shariq Siddiqui
Dr. Shariq Siddiqui is an Assistant Professor of Philanthropic Studies and Director of the Muslim Philanthropy Initiative at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Philanthropic Studies from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, a JD from the McKinney School of Law at Indiana University, and a B.A. in History from the University of Indianapolis. As an accomplished author and researcher, Dr. Siddiqui has led groundbreaking studies on Muslim philanthropy, including a national survey of full-time Islamic schools in the U.S. His work has culminated in several publications, including Islamic Education in the United States and the Evolution of Muslim Nonprofit Institutions and four additional books on philanthropy and nonprofit collaboration. Dr. Siddiqui serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Muslim Philanthropy and Civil Society and Muslim Humanitarianism Review. He was also the founding co-editor of the Journal on Education in Muslim Societies and Series Editor of the Muslim Philanthropy and Civil Society Book Series, all published by Indiana University Press. Previously, he served as the Executive Director of the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA), a leading international association dedicated to advancing research on nonprofits, philanthropy, and civil society.
