Rev. Jihan B. Murray-Smith
Senior Associate Rector
The Rev. Jihan Murray-Smith ([email protected]) serves as senior associate rector at The Church of the Holy Spirit in Lake Forest, Illinois. She focuses on liturgy, confirmation education, pastoral care and communications. Her ministry also includes leading partnership efforts with Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe Church in Waukegan, Illinois, and serving as co-chair of the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Ministerium.Prior to The Church of the Holy Spirit, Jihan served as Deacon, Chaplain, and Director of Children’s ministries at St. Chrysostom’s Day School and Church, Deacon at The Church of the Atonement, and Deacon at Messiah-St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church in Chicago, Illinois. She also served as co-chair of the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago’s Convention, as a former member of the Transition Committee for the Bishop Search Transition team and the Ordination Planning Committee for Bishop Paula E. Clark and is currently a member Disciplinary Board of the Diocese of Chicago.
Jihan has an M.Div. from Bexley Seabury Seminary and a bachelor’s degree from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2024, she was admitted into the 2024–2026 Trinity Wall Street Leadership Fellows cohort, and in 2026, Mtr. Jihan was admitted into the seventh class of the Iron Sharpening Iron’s signature executive leadership program at Princeton Theological Seminary.
