
Syed Siddiq Ahmed
Syed is a Senior Manager - Standards Implementation and Regulatory Authorities Coordination at AAOIFI, a leading international not-for-profit organization that develops and issues standards for global Islamic finance industry.
He joined AAOIFI in January 2018 and is responsible for implementation and adoption of AAOIFI standards globally, as well as coordination and communication with regulatory and supervisory institutions, including central banks, securities and insurance commissions from across the globe to fulfil this mandate. He also handles industry related research and publications at AAOIFI. He has also contributed to the development of AAOIFI governance standards, and has represented AAOIFI in various events, meetings and conferences in various jurisdictions.
Prior to this, he was a Research Economist at the General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions (CIBAFI), where his was responsible for policy and regulatory affairs, research and publications. Syed is a qualified Islamic finance professional from INCEIF, Malaysia. He worked with HSBC Group for about a decade and has experience in overall banking operations, business migrations and training projects from the United Kingdom for the HSBC Group. He has excellent communication, analytical, editorial, and writing skills.
